Earth Day Social 2017

The Shinnecock Environmental Department hosted its 6th annual Earth Day Social on May 6th, 2017. The Earth Day social brings our community members, partners and the public together for our shared goals of protecting the environment we all rely on.

There were many vendors and informational booths set up by the department, Cornell Cooperative, Indian Health Services, United States Geological Survey, The Nature Conservancy and more with  interactive demonstrations, information and more.

New to this year's earth day social were environmental department Pictionary as well as our department's water tanks where we encouraged visitors to find the many different animals and organisms that could be found in fresh water ponds both here on the reservation as well as Riverhead.

We really enjoyed a great turnout and would love to thank our sponsors (including but not limited to King Kullen, Stop and Shop, Lynches, Clamman, 450nm), all of our vendors, volunteers, community members and others that make this and other events possible throughout the year.

Tabutne!
