A video of our eelgrass efforts in the Coastal Habitat Restoration Project
A major milestone for our Coastal Habitat Restoration Project staff has been the first oyster spawn on Shinnecock territory in approximately thirty years! Take a look inside:
Thanks to all who attended the Shorebirds event on our beach yesterday!
We saw an osprey, ducks, gulls, several ruddy turnstones and non birds like horseshoe crabs. Team members from Cornell lead the birdspotting, highlighting the many birds that call shorelines home and will call our restored coastline habitat home.
This event was part of the Coastal Habitat Restoration Project, funded by the Department of the Interior through a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation’s Hurricane Sandy Coastal Resiliency Competitive Grant Program .
