Growing Habitat & Resiliency
As part of the Coastal Habitat Restoration Project’s seven components, upland planting plays a key role in erosion control. Plants along the beach edge provide much needed root systems to hold soil in place as well as provide additional habitat tonative wildlife.
In November 2016 a plant survey was begun. We selected several plant species in the project area for further identification, photographed each sample and baggedexamples of each plant to be identified.
These samples and photographs were later reviewed by ourpartner Cornell, and were identified so that they may be listedin a Shoreline Management plan component of the shoreline restoration grant.
